The Abraj Al Bait Towers is a tower complex, and the highest tower is the clock tower. The highest tower in the complex has a five-star hotel to offer staying for the millions of pilgrims that travel to Mecca to take part in the Hajj. That building is close to the world’s largest mosque and Islam’s most sacred site, the Masjid al Haram. The name of the building means “The House” and is a reference to the holy Ka’aba within the mosque across the street, which is the Islamic house of Allah. So, today, it is 601 metres (1 972 ft) high and it costs over 1,5 billion US dollars. At the beginning it was intended for building to be 485 meters tall, and in July 2010 it has been released that the final height will be 601 meters. The designer and contractor of the complex is the Saudi Binladin Group, the Kingdom’s largest construction corporation. The Abraj Al Bait Towers, also called Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower, is the second tallest building in the world and the tallest building in Saudi Arabia.
